Meet Our Helmsman: Richard

With over 30 years of experience as an engineer and a passion for the waterways, Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our Wide Beam canal boat experience days. His extensive background in engineering ensures that he understands every technical aspect of boat handling and maintenance, making him an invaluable resource for prospective boat owners.

Richard is a fully qualified RYA Helmsman Instructor, adept at teaching both novices and those with some boating experience. His calm and patient demeanour, coupled with his clear and effective communication style, ensures that all participants feel comfortable and confident while learning the ropes.

In addition to his engineering and instructional qualifications, Richard is certified in sea survival and first aid. His training in these critical areas guarantees that safety is always the top priority during our experience days. Whether it's navigating the complexities of the River Thames or providing expert advice on boat ownership, Richard’s comprehensive skill set and dedication to safety provide peace of mind and an enriching learning experience for all.
